Blood, Sweat, Tears, & Ink Presents "She Speaks!"
"What do you get when a legion of Femme Fatales grace the same stage? A group of women who take a no prisoners approach to their art forms, armed with poetry, song, bravado, grace and wit!

The She Speaks! Showcase is brought to you by Blood, Sweat, Tears, and Ink. We are answering the call in a time where people are uneasy about the condition and prevalence of the Bay Area Spoken Word scene. In a time when we are unsure if Black Lives matter in America. In a time when Black women tear each other down on national television as entertainment fodder, when Black sisterhood and solidarity seems to be a thing of the past it is monumental that we exhibit our solidarity, our strength.

It is necessary that outside of the Hunger Games of Slam competitions and the necessity to book venues that we hold spaces to put down our boxing gloves and pick up the mic, to celebrate art, to celebrate each other.

Our voices are our greatest weapons!
We use them to set niggaz straight, to put disbelievers in their place, to serve tea and throw shade! But we also use our voices to inform, uplift, incite, empower and praise!

It is the poet, the songstress, the story teller, the griot that yields these powers.

There are few things more powerful than the impact a woman has when She Speaks!so listen!" ~ Darling Tiara of darlingtiara@blogspot.com
