Festival51
Festival51 is an original works playwriting festival focused on cultivating women writers and directors. An open call for submissions went out in March, and five plays were chosen to be part of the 2015 Festival.
THE WAITRESS by Ainslie Caswell A David Ives-esque piece that explores the questions of value and human nature while offering an absurdist laugh. Playing: Friday, July 31; Saturday, August 8; Friday, August 14
HOPE THROWS HER HEART AWAY by Susan Goodell Life and love as seen simultaneously through the Id, Ego and Superego; one woman three hearts. Playing: Saturday, August 1; Friday, August 7; Saturday, August 15 A BONE TO PICK by Eugenie Chan A postmodern adaptation of the myth of Ariadne. Playing: Friday, July 31; Saturday, August 8; Friday, August 14 ECHOES ON THE PEAKS, Two tales from the Appalachian Trail by Deborah Harbin Two ghost stories that tell about those who look to escape civilization but come back altered by the wilderness. Playing: Saturday, August 1; Friday, August 7; Saturday, August 15 We will also be offering up a filmed version of the short piece THERAPY by Shannon McLoud that gives a sardonic glimpse of fairy tale characters in coming to grips with "I'm not bad, I was just written that way!" Playing every evening.
