Frances Black with Aoife Scott and Eoghan Scott.
Award winning Irish Singer Frances Black will be coming to the US to perform as a trio with her son Eoghan and daughter Aoife Scott.
It will be the first time in 20 years that Frances has toured like this in the States. This is something she has wanted to do for a while now and after being invited to perform at the Cleveland Irish Festival this month, she felt it would be a perfect time to make her dream come true. It's also her first time performing as a trio with Eoghan and Aoife who are accomplished performers in their own right.

Singer Aoife Scott has been writing and collecting songs and performing continuously over the past few years in Ireland and abroad, as well as recording pieces for documentaries and a drama series. Her vocal talents were featured heavily in the IFTA award winning TV series 1916 Seachtar na Cásca. She has also made other TV appearances on the BBC's Imeall Geal, and TG4's An Nollaig Linn, and Ceol na nOileáin. Aoife moved to the west coast of Ireland several years ago and her passion for the native Irish language spoken there is reflected in her choice of songs. She possesses a voice that evokes the wild western landscape: fragile one minute and forceful the next. Her experiences while living in the west, the people, the places and the sounds of Connemara, can be heard in her remarkable and unique performances.
However, it is Aoife's wonderful ability to connect with her audiences and also paint beautiful pictures with her songs that are making waves in Ireland. The last six months have been an incredibly creative and productive time for Aoife and her band and she is now in the studio recording her own album, which she hopes will be release at the end of 2015.

Eoghan Scott is a singer songwriter who released an EP of his own songs in 2010 called South Circular Stories receiving great reviews. According to an AMP Review by Jeanette Rehnstrom "Eoghan's dulcet tones lead the varied instruments with a comforting steadiness and then in the song Carnival he gets playful in the manner of Stephin Merrit of the Magnetic Fields". Along with Eoghan's passion for songwriting, he has also played guitar accompaniment with artists on stage like Sharon Shannon, Paddy Keenan, Mary Coughlan, Tommy Fleming, Mary Black, the Irish traditional band Slide and many more. More recently he has been co producing Aoife's forthcoming album along with playing in her band.

This will be a lovely night of songs and celebration.  Take a trip down memory late below with a special rendition of A Woman's Heart with her sister Mary, and Karan Matheson.

The Burren Backroom series is now well established as one of the most sought-after boutique series of trad presentation in the world.  It has already created already dozens of memorable, intimate, informal presentations held in a truly atmospheric space which was founded by well-known traditional musicians Tommy McCarthy and Louise Costello in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts.

Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music.  As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.
