Roger Melone, conductor Marilyn Thomas Bernard, soprano Jacqueline Zander-Wall, mezzo-soprano Eric Parker, tenor Stephen Lewis, baritone Handel, Coronation Anthems: Zadok the Priest and The King Shall Rejoice Mozart, Requiem Enigmatic, mythical, epic: all apt descriptions of Mozart's final choral masterwork, the Requiem mass. The legend surrounding Mozart's Requiem has become intertwined with the composer's own untimely death at the age of 35, leaving us this unflinching, unfinished capstone of classical music's most sublime body of work. Also on the program are two Handel Coronation AnthemsZadok the Priest and The King Shall Rejoice, first performed at the 1727 coronation of King George II.
