Music at the Barn at Beaver Run--Community Concert--Tin Bird Choir with opener by Huey McBanjo & The White Cheddar Boys
Tin Bird Choir is an alt-folk barn rock band of singer-songwriters from right here in Chester County. Their songs are rooted in the rural world they grew up in, yet pulse with modern urgency. Two songs from their latest album Homesteady were picked up by Starbucks and now played in their stores worldwide. Another song, "Cheaper, Less Painful," recently earned the band a regional finalist spot in the Mountain Stage Newsong Con- test. With lyrical integrity and driving melodies, Tin Bird Choir is fun, often quirky, and always wonderful. Hear their music at tinbirdchoir.com.
The White Cheddar Boys have been playing gigs and busking in and around Philly since 2011. Huey picked up the banjo in 2003 after hearing the soundtrack from "Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?" and has been playing fast-paced barn-burners ever since. His band: Huey (banjo, vocals), Russ (guitar, harmonica), Dave (double bass) and Ovi (washboard, kick drum) play a fast-paced version of traditional appalachian tunes, sprinkled with originals and modern covers. They love nothing more than playing hillbilly stomp to a packed house of folk-lovin fools like themselves and they encourage you "if ya feel like hootin an hollerin, then hoot an holler!!"
