PLAYWRITING
A six week course with iDiOM Theater Artistic Director Glenn Hergenhahn-Zhao
May 9 - June 13* Saturdays 10am - 2pm
*No class June 6th, but will still have work and feedback that week.
In our 20+ hours we will cover:
* three-act structure * alternatives to three-act structure * phenomenological writing * creating characters through dialogue * script analysis for playwrights * outlining * troubleshooting * character development * creating a theatrical universe * dynamic storytelling * making and breaking rules
...among other things. This class is open to writers of all ages and levels. It is particularly useful to anyone currently working on or looking to begin a full-length script.
Writers will have an opportunity to get feedback on their writing, share writing exercises with the other students, read great scripts, watch clips of outstanding theater writing, and complete to work with student directors on a one-act play.
Glenn Hergenhahn-Zhao is the author of over 100 plays, and has been a working playwright for twenty years. He brings both traditional and non-traditional approaches to playwriting.
