Diderot String Quartet: Haydn in France
With all the snow out there, it's good we're finally getting warmed up for our first concert of 2015, part of Holy Trinity's Mid-Winter Fest! Please join us for an evening of beautiful string quartets.
"I will give my best quartet for a good razor!" Haydn's words, spoken to a British publisher while shaving, gave Op. 55/2 its name, The Razor. Meanwhile, his court violinist Johann Tost left for Paris with a manuscript of the same quartet. Perhaps he ran into young Hyacinthe Jadin, who was just starting to write quartets of his own...
