Level 3: Musical Improv Fundamentals
This class under the instruction of Musical Director, Kyle Gossett, will guide you through a series of musical techniques and concepts that will convert your improv knowledge into musical form. The fundamentals will ground you and provide confidence to build and sing unforgettable improvised songs through emotional grounding, motifs, and recognizable song structures. You'll learn choreography, skills for solo, duet, and ensemble numbers, and tricks to avoid the dreaded rhyme trap. You'll also learn how to find and to work with a live musician to find the songs you've always wanted to sing This eight-week class offers short-form musical games, vocal technique, rhyming, character-through-music, long-form musical improvisation, and genre study.
Prerequisite: Must have completed a Level 1 and Level 2 class or gain permission of an instructor.
Class meets from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. each Saturday (January 17 - March 14) and will be instructed by Kyle Gossett.
Class enrollment is limited to 12 students.
