Breaking into the Food Business in Somerville: a panel discussion
Join SLF for an evening with some representatives of the creative culinary economy and those who love and regulate them!
If you're feeling inspired to start your own food related business, we're here to bring you stories from some of the sweetest folks in the business (pun intended).
We'll be hearing from a panel including Jeremy Spindler, owner of Spindler Confections Heather Schmidt, co-owner of Union Square Donuts Ellen Schneider Collins, ISD Operations Manager, City of Somerville, MA Teagan Lehrmann, Culinary Coordinator for the Somerville Arts Council
Jeremy will talk about getting his home kitchen certified to produce his confections and Heather will speak of her experience going from shared kitchen space to shared restaurant space to Union Square Donut's new home on Bow Street. Ellen will be on hand to talk about the city's permitting process for food businesses and recent changes to the application system. We will also be joined by Teagan Lehrmann culinary coordinator at the Somerville Arts Council, who will be talking about their new Nibble Culinary Entrepreneurship program.
All panelists will take audience questions, so come prepared to ask away!
This event is free for SLF members. A small fee to cover our costs is charged to non-members and can be applied toward membership if you choose to join SLF.
