GIRLRISING Viewing & Panel Discussion - Schwab Organization of Latinos
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month the Schwab Organization of Latinos will be hosting an evening of inspiration and the celebration of Latinos making a difference in their communities. The event will be held at the Schwab Center located at 211 Main St. San Francisco. At the cross of streets Main and Howard.

The agenda for the evening will be:

4:15-5:30 Networking reception featuring Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz,
President, Charles Schwab Foundation, Chairman of the Board, Schwab Charitable.

Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz is proudly supporting our Hispanic Heritage Event and will be present during the networking reception from 4:45-5:30.

5:45 Private screening of the groundbreaking documentary film "Girl Rising". Girl Rising is an innovative new feature film about how the power of education can change a girl and the world. The documentary tells the stories of girls from various developing countries, who fought for their chance to go to school in spite of extreme poverty, natural disasters, and even forced labor. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchette, Selena Gomez and other actors contribute voice performances to the film.

Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz, is a leading advocate for financial literacy and one of America's most trusted sources for financial advice. As leader of Schwab Community Services as well as president of Charles Schwab Foundation, she is devoted to making investing more accessible to the American public, encouraging men and women from all walks of life to take charge of their financial lives.

In 2010 Schwab-Pomerantz was appointed by President Obama to the President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability, and chaired the Partnership Committee until early 2013. In that role, she led the Council's efforts to strengthen coordination between public and private-sector financial education programs. She also served as an advisor to the President's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy under George W. Bush.

Schwab-Pomerantz speaks and writes extensively about personal finance issues. Her latest book, The Charles Schwab Guide to Finances after Fifty: Answers to Your Most Important Money Questions, was described by The New York Times as "overwhelmingly appealing" and "an excellent personal finance book." It was published by Crown Business in April 2014. Schwab-Pomerantz also currently writes a weekly column called Ask Carrie, which appears on schwab.com, Parade.com, and is syndicated through Creators News Service. With her father, Charles R. Schwab, Schwab-Pomerantz co-authored It Pays to Talk: How to Have the Essential Conversations with Your Family about Money and Investing (Crown Business: 2002).

Schwab-Pomerantz's media and public appearances have included Good Morning America, The Today Show, CNBC and NPR among other major media outlets, as well as the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia and the San Francisco Commonwealth Club. For ten years (2003-2011, 2013), The San Francisco Business Times named her one of the San Francisco Bay Area's 100 Most Influential Women in Business. In 2011, Schwab-Pomerantz received the William E, Odom Visionary Leadership Award, Jump$tart Coalition's highest recognition for individual contributions to the financial literacy and education of students.

Schwab-Pomerantz serves as director and chairman of the board of Schwab Charitable, one of the country's largest donor-advised funds. She also serves on the national board of governors of Boys & Girls Clubs of America and chairs the board of trustees for the Pacific region. Additionally, Schwab-Pomerantz is on the board of directors of Decker Communications and the IWF Leadership Foundation.

Schwab-Pomerantz earned a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from George Washington University. She holds FINRA Series 7, 23, 63 and 8 registrations, and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certificant.

Omar Aguilar joined Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc., (CSIM) as senior vice president and chief investment officer, Equities in April 2011 where he is responsible for over $80 billion (as of 12/31/13) in equity and asset allocation mutual funds and separate account assets. He has over 20 years of broad investment management experience in the equity markets, including managing index, quantitative equity, asset allocation, and multi-manager strategies.

Prior to CSIM, Mr. Aguilar was with Financial Engines, where he was responsible for managing more than $40 billion in assets from leading retirement plan sponsors in the defined contribution market. Prior to joining Financial Engines, Mr. Aguilar was the head of Quantitative Equity for ING Investment Management, where he was responsible for building and developing the firm's quantitative equity group, managing more than $20 billion in assets with 15 global active, index, and enhanced index strategies for pensions funds, variable annuities, and mutual funds. He joined ING in 2004 from Lehman Brothers, where he served as the head of quantitative research for its alternative investment management business. Prior to that, he was a director of quantitative research and portfolio manager with Merrill Lynch Investment Management and Bankers Trust.

Mr. Aguilar was a Fulbright Scholar at Duke University's Institute of Statistics and Decisions Sciences, where he earned his M.S. and Ph.D. He completed a B.S. in actuarial sciences and a graduate degree in applied statistics from the Mexican Autonomous Institute of Technology (ITAM).

Panelists:

Rodney Prezeau is Senior Vice President of Affluent Client Experience for Charles Schwab. Prezeau currently leads Schwab Investor Services' Affluent Client Experience group, which manages fee based advisory products, the Affluent and Retirement segment offers and services, and field integration of those services.

Prior to joining Schwab in San Francisco in 2004, Prezeau worked in London, England for over six years with McKinsey & Company, and American Express, in their Strategic Planning Group.  In his five years with McKinsey & Company's London office, Prezeau advised financial services firms on a broad range of strategic issues.  His work experience also includes six years at J.P. Morgan & Company, where he was a Vice President in the Investment Banking Division focusing on mergers and acquisitions in the financial services sector.  His time at J.P. Morgan included stints of three years in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and one year in Melbourne, Australia.

Prezeau received his B.A. degree in Economics from Yale University and an M.B.A. degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Julia Arellano Sullivan is the Co-Founder of Latino Business Action Network. Julia specializes in business growth, organizational change and leadership development using results-oriented action learning at all levels of an organization. Julia co-founded an initiative with Dr. Jerry Porras at the Stanford Graduate School of Business to promote Latino entrepreneurship in the United States. The Latino Business Action Network has three main initiatives: 1. Establish a research center and database at Stanford on Latino entrepreneurship; 2. Offer an online course supported with mentors; and 3. Strengthen relationships throughout the entrepreneurial ecosystem making it more accessible to entrepreneurs leading high-growth companies.

In 2003, the Stanford Graduate School of Business awarded Julia the Jerry I. Porras Latino Leadership award to recognize her professional achievements and her contributions to the community. Julia earned an MBA from Stanford University, and a Bachelor in Industrial Administration from Kettering University.

Cinthya Vieyra is a College Coach at Beyond 12. Cynthia graduated from Notre Dame de Namur University (2013) with a Bachelor's in Psychology and a minor in Leadership and Public Service. Growing up in a low income and under-resourced neighborhood, Cinthya noticed the importance of education at an early age. As a scholar from Peninsula College Fund, a college access organization, she received moral support, guidance, and encouragement from her mentor. While at NDNU she also served as a mentor for the First Generation program and helped students navigate their first year of college, support them academically and socially, and encourage many to become connected to campus resources. In addition, she worked in various departments at NDNU including financial aid, admissions, student affairs, and the library.

Cinthya's personal experiences and drive towards increasing access to higher education are the reasons she is committed to helping others with similar backgrounds. As a Beyond 12 college coach she works closely with students who attend CSUs , UCs, and Community Colleges nationwide in order to increase the number of students who are graduating from college and breaking the cycle of poverty by earning a degree of economic value.
