Demonstration/lecture: Music of India noon-1pm Wille Hall COCC (free and open to all)

Featuring the renowned South Indian classical music Artists M. Nagaraj and Dr. Manjunath, Violins--- Some of the world's finest in the Art of expressive tone and the melodic & improvisational music style on the violin.
Accompanied by Rajarao, and Giridhar Udupa playing the traditional South Indian percussion instruments: the Mridangam, a multi-pitched barrel drum and the Ghatam, a clay pot.

These are International caliber Artists who tour the U.S., Europe, Australia and Asia sharing this meditative and exhilarating form of music from India. Enjoy the spontaneous improvisations like sound poems created and then spoken through the music between them. The musical "conversations" these artists express with each other are played in the traditional South Indian Ragas (melodic scales) and Talas (rhythmic patterns). This music will transport you to divine realms of listening.

Nagaraj and Manjunath are well-known brothers who have been playing violin their entire lives, as taught at home by their father who was also an innovative and renowned violinist in India. They have an almost telepathic synchronicity with each other when they play. The Mysore Violin Brothers, as they are commonly known by, have played in some of the most prestigious festivals around the world as well as received top cultural and music awards in India.
Rajarao and Giridhar Udupa are some of the top percussion Artists in India and also are widely acclaimed world-wide. It is a true honor to have these maestros play in Bend, Oregon!
