Earth Rise is a weekly gathering for those with a strong connection to nature and the environment. Earth Rise uses music and art, discussion, contemplation and environmental action, to teach us new ways to deepen our connection to the environment, walk more gently on the Earth, and bring out the best in ourselves and in others.

Earth Rise participants engage in optional environmental action projects. Past projects include: working with neighbors on community gardens; removing invasive plants and helping to cultivate natural species; building a native butterfly habitat; restoring marshes and aquatic shellfish; and working on The Science Barge; a floating greenhouse with educational programs on sustainability and urban agriculture.

As part of the New York Society for Ethical Culture, Earth Rise is humanist and nontheistic in tradition. We find our strength in our relationships with others and our place in community. We celebrate the unique qualities of each individual, knowing that life flourishes through diversity, and that the wider our circle of friends, the greater our opportunity for self-discovery.
