SINGLE LADIES [put a ring on it] AMATEUR DANCE OFF
WHAT AND WHERE: Century Ballroom and Velocity Dance Center are pairing up to present a fun and fabulous fundraiser to bring community awareness and participation to their most recent ventures: the new home of
Velocity at the Capitol Hill Arts Center and the new event space/dance hall for the Century, West Hall.
So get some gloss on your lips, put the booty in bootylicious, and show us your best Single Ladies video impression on September 19th. The group that best shakes and jiggles the junk in their trunk, as judged by a panel of professionals, will win a grand prize of $300.00 dollars. Audience members may participate as well by bidding on the group that they dig the most; the group that has the most audience suga mamas at the end of the night will gain the equivalent of one panel judge vote, so bring your ladies and your gentlemen to help you raise the roof even higher!
TO PARTICIPATE: All levels, all ages, all ethnicities, genders, and sexualities are invited to participate; all you need to do is get a group together, large or small, study and learn the Single Ladies video dance (without fighting over who gets to be Beyonc) and show us what youve got. Based off of the audition tapes, six to eight groups will be chosen to perform and compete in the event in West Hall on September 19th.
TO ENTER: Either post your video on YouTube and send the link to email@example.com, or send an email with the file attached. You can also bring the hard copy in DVD to the Century Ballroom office at 915 E. Pine St, second floor, 206-324-7263. Tapes must be submitted by August 24th and you will be notified by August 31st if your group has been chosen.
THE EVENT: This is a night not to miss!! Be prepared to take a trip back to when Beyonc was still 1/5th of Destinys Child with a night of DJd soul and funk, peppered every half an hour or so with the finalists performances. At the end of the night, when all of the booties have been shaken and hips popped, the winners will be announced!
