A subset of the group Lunasa, Cillian and Kevin are no strangers to the Burren or this concert series! As a duo tho, there is something about their style, grace and repertoire that is an once intriguing and comfortably familiar. With the wit, affability, and musicianship, this will be like coming home to a small, exquisite session on a winter's night.
And JUST ADDED to this bill: OMG, I can't wait to hear these two in person. Twelve year old Haley began playing violin at three and fell in love with Irish fiddle before her 5th birthday. She is the 2013 Under 12 All Ireland Champion in solo fiddle and fiddle slow airs and has placed at the All Ireland competition for the past three years. She is a 6X MidAtlantic Regional Under 12 fiddle champion. Haley has performed on stage with groups such at The Chieftains, Altan, Dervish, Pride of New York, and The John Whelan Band. Haley is a student of Brian Conway. She is accompanied by her favorite guitarist, her 17 year old brother, Dylan. Wow! This sill indeed be a special night.
The Burren Backroom series is fairly new and looks to create intimate, informal presentations held in the atmospheric space created by well-known traditional musicians Tommy and Louise McCarthy in Davis Square, Somerville, Masachusetts.
Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings will feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music. As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.
