4th Annual Anti-Corporate Film Festival opening night: "SWEET CRUDE"

Victoria Theatre
San Francisco, CA

The opening night of the 4th Annual Anti-Corporate Film Festival kicks off with the West Coast premiere of the first feature-length film about Big Oil's devestation of the environment and people of Nigeria's Niger Delta region, and the efforts of local residents to have their grievances addressed.

The screening coincides with the start of a civil trial in New York against Shell Oil and one of its executives for their roles in the torture and killing of peaceful Nigerian protesters over 10 years ago.

Director Sandy Cioffi will be in attendance for a Q&A about her experiences making the film  including being detained by Nigerian security forces for five days  and the current status of the conflict. (USA, 2009, 92 minutes)

Note: The opening night reception begins at 8:30 -- after the Q &A following "SWEET CRUDE" -- at the San Francisco Media Archive, located at 275 Capp Street (between 17th and 18th Streets), two blocks from the Victoria Theatre.
