Casa dos Sonhos or The House of Dreams was created by Sarah Morrisette aka Hebert-Johnson of Arlington, MA and Marcos Antonio of Beira, Mozambique. This new company consists of professional artists of all kinds who perform pieces about relevant social issues in their community and use applied theatre techniques to help people find solutions to their problems. As a first step towards making this company possible Sarah and Marcos hope to do an internship at the Center for Theatre of the Oppressed in Rio, Brazil, where the techniques were born. Theatre of the Oppressed is an extremely effective type of social change theatre used by activists, artists, teachers, and therapists all over the world.
All proceeds from this event support Casa dos Sonhos and will help Sarah and Marcos get to Brazil! The night will consist of a Theatre of the Oppressed performance (come see what this thing really is!), food, music by Janice Allen, Revels Singers and Albino Mbie, and more information about this exciting new company. Come be a part of bringing the healing power of the arts to those who need it the most!
