Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents "Classical Celebrations!"
The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra continues it's 75th season with "Classical Celebrations!" featuring guest artist Everaldo Martinez on violin. The concert is under the direction of Dr. Beverly Everett. The program features Martinez on Max Bruch's Concerto No. 1 in G minor for violin and Orchestra, Op. 26. Also included in the program are the Magic Flute Overture by Mozart and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92.
A native of Honduras, Everaldo Martinez studied violin performance as a boy at the "Francisco Diaz Zeleyea Conservatory of Music" and was mentored by American violinist, Elizabeth Clendenning of the Cleveland Orchestra. He earned his American performance degree in violin from Southeastern Louisiana State University, followed by two advanced violin performance degrees, at the Masters' and Doctoral level, with John Gilbert at Texas Tech University. Dr. Martinez has been in demand as an orchestral and chamber music performer and has appeared at a number of summer festivals all over the country. In addition to his violin and conducting work, Martinez is also a composer, writing in a wide variety of styles. He is currently the concertmaster of the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra, conductor of its Youth Symphony, professor of violin / viola and conductor of string ensembles at Bismarck State College and at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. Tickets for the concert are available at the door or in advance at Lueken's Village Foods in Bemidji, or online at brownpapertickets.com. Prices are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens 62+, and $10 for college students with ID. Students grades K12 are admitted free. All seats are general admission. Doors open for seating at 2:30 pm.
