Dorian Wood + Rattle Rattle Chamber Orchestra, within Deflated/Defeated by Jacqueline Bell Johnson
Dorian Wood returns with his newly-reconfigured chamber orchestra for two nights only, March 21 and 22, at Human Resources in Chinatown, Los Angeles. The performances will take place inside a monumental-scale installation entitled "Deflated/Defeated". Designed by artist Jacqueline Bell Johnson, the sculptural environment is inspired by the mythology behind Dorian's latest album, Rattle Rattle: a document of the end-times as triggered by the appearance of thousands of elephants in the sky.  During designated moments throughout the evening, audience members will be invited to experience the performance from different points within the installation.

Space is limited. Doors open at 7:30PM. Performances will commence at 8:30PM SHARP on each night. Due to the intimate, acoustic nature of the performances, late arrivals will not be admitted into the space.

BIOS

DORIAN WOOD is "armed with a vocal charisma that would befit a preacher and an experimental streak that would make avant-gardists swoon" (WNYC Culture). A wunderkind with a headstrong DIY discipline, Dorian has brought his emotionally-charged performances to concert halls, museums, music venues and performance spaces throughout the US, Mexico and Europe, with a voice that channels the skill and ferocity of such auteurs as Scott Walker, Nina Simone, Nick Cave and Tom Waits.

Dorian's performative works have been presented at such institutions as REDCAT (Los Angeles), Los Angeles County Museum of Art, UCLA, Highways Performance Space (Santa Monica), Pacific Design Center (West Hollywood), The Stone (New York City), Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco), the Brut Theater (Vienna), Botanique (Brussels) and the Stockholm Fringe Fest (Sweden). Most recently, he released his second studio album, Rattle Rattle, which features over 60 musicians.
