"Sequenza Dialogues" Music, Food and Wine Gala
THE COLONIALS present a unique and edgy gala performance in SoHo on Wednesday, April 2. Five of Luciano Berio's Sequenzas (virtuosic pieces written for solo instruments) will be paired with musical selections from the Baroque period and new compositions written and premiered by our own members. This is a rare chance to hear the unique colors of a few of Berio's most celebrated and difficult works, alongside contrasting pieces that will surely illuminate and inspire conversation and thought.
Four sets of thrilling solo performances by THE COLONIALS will be paired with a wine tasting flight, and refreshments by bittergreen will be served. The event will be hosted by the Louis K. Meisel Art Gallery, a photorealism gallery in the heart of Soho . In addition, there will be a silent auction which will help fund the 2014-15 season for THE COLONIALS.
Founded in April of 2013, The Colonials is a mixed-period chamber ensemble specializing in historically informed period performance, classical chamber music, and newly written works. They formed with the vision of bringing together old and new music as it is meant to be heard, together into one cohesive experience for our audience. Since their first public performance this fall, they have been recognized as one of New York's most innovative new ensembles.
