Taikoza Live in SF 2014
Taikoza, the masterful Japanese Taiko Drummers are in San Francisco for one amazing evening of mind-blowing drumming. Back after last year's sold out concert in San Francisco. Taikoza hits the stage with a high-energy performance of traditional and original Japanese tunes featuring the soulful bamboo flutes and an amazing array of ancestral Taiko drums. The show will also feature some sensual and colorful traditional dances that you will not want to miss. This concert will be part of the celebration for the Cherry Blossom.

When: Monday, April 21th 2014 at 7:30 PM

Where:  The Creativity Theater at the Children's Creativity Museum,

221 Fourth Street in downtown San Francisco

(on the corner of Fourth and Howard across the street from the Metreon).

Tickets: Advance: $30 (children/senior/student $22)

Day of Concert: $35.00 (children/senior/student $25)

Experience the exciting rhythms of the ancestral Taiko and the magical sounds of the bamboo flutes. Taikoza uses the powerful rhythms of the Taiko drums to create an electrifying energy that carries audiences in a new dimension of excitement. Drawing from Japan's rich tradition of music and performance, Taikoza has created a new sound using a variety of traditional instruments. Taikoza has performed in Europe, Asia and has extensively toured North America. They have appeared on ESPN, Sumo tournament at Madison Square Garden and recorded for the Nintendo wii game: Red Steel 1 and 2.

Quotes from the Media:

"Something strange and wonderful is coming your way. There was thunder and there was lighting and there was the sea crashing against a cliff, and volcanoes. For a few utterly transporting minutes, there was expressed in the metaphors of merciless rhythms and fluttering melodies, anything a listener had experienced, would experience and could imagine experiencing."

ERIC HUBLER, WASHINGTON POST

" In its choreography and its vigor taiko becomes almost a martial art, one in which violence has been sublimated into disciplined exultation a blend of high-decibel virtuosity and sinful shakuhachi solos. Precision and energy are paramount here and the product, for me, was medicinal. It is a combination narcotic, stimulant and vitamin pill."

Bernard Holland, NY Times

This performance is made possible in part by funds from East Winds, Inc. and Asano Taiko.
