Healing Power of Music Benefit Concert
The power of music in the healing process has been noted since antiquity. The Healing Power of Music Benefit Concert demonstrates the ability of music to soothe the soul and uplift the spirit. The event brings together The Maryland State Boychoir and The Healing Power of Music Chorus in a joyous event, now in its 6th year (visit www.hpmbaltimore.org). You are guaranteed to enjoy a heart-warming afternoon. In addition to a wonderful reception, silent auction with vacation getaways and much much more, the highlight of the day is the concert featuring choral music from classical, to spirituals, to popular genres. The young men and boys of The Maryland State Boychoir have sung throughout the state of Maryland, nationally and internationally, and are recognized as "Official Goodwill Ambassadors" of the State of Maryland. The Healing Power of Music Chorus represents a collaboration between The Prevention and Research Center at Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore, MD and The Maryland State Boychoir. The chorus includes cancer survivors, health care providers, community friends and parents of boychoir members. All share a love of music and appreciate the healing power that music brings to our lives.
Proceeds directly benefit The Cancer Recovery Program at Mercy and The Maryland State Boychoir. The money raised helps to fund supportive care programs for cancer patients and those at risk, their children and caregivers. The Maryland State Boychoir offers boys and young men the opportunity to grow musically and personally through programs that enhance self-esteem, self-discipline, and wholesome character.
