A classically trained vocalist with a 3-octave range, Vandana Bali's voice has been compared to Patti Lupone, Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion. She has performed standards, Broadway and pop songs at festivals in Europe and at clubs in San Francisco and New York.
She will be accompanied by Dred Scott, http://www.dredscott.com on piano, "...Scott is not a fine -- in fact, magnificent -- pianist, he is a fine, magnificent all-around musician." Phil Elwood, San Francisco Examiner
On the heels of a sold-out CD release party and a sold-out performance of her "The Power of Love" cabaret show at Martuni's Piano Lounge in San Francisco, Vandana brings her show to New York City for one night only.
Born in India, raised in New York and making her home in San Francisco, Vandana has been wowing audiences of all sizes with her dynamic, smooth voice since the age of six. Performance highlights include singing the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden, performing at San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's Project Homeless Connect event and at a local talent spotlight at the historic Plush Room.
Her Cd's are available on iTunes, CD Baby, Tower Records online among other sites. Vandana holds a Master's in Government. Career highlights include working on Capitol Hill, at Excite@Home and at the American Lung Association of California.
LIVE SHOW REVIEWS: "I attended Vandana's birthday show ("The Power of Love" on May 6, 2006 at Martuni's) and was blown away by her voice, magnetic personality and total mastery of the audience. She was beautiful - really striking; sensual, yet not too sexy to distract from her marvelous performance. I was moved by the music; it is one of my favorite styles. I want to see and hear more from this talented singer, soon!" --William Murray, Music Attorney, San Francisco, CA, May 8, 2006
Vandana weaves her vocal velvet at San Francisco's Plush Room. I just saw Vandana perform songs from her new CD last night (February 20, 2006) at a local talent spotlight at San Francisco's historic Plush Room. Her sultry version of "God Bless the Child" lured me in and left me completely unprepared for the vocal power she unleashed in her performance of the title track, "The Power of Love." --Loren Rogers, Oakland, CA, February 21, 2006
