Live Music at the Cinema!
Saturday, February 21 at Noon
Gustafer Yellowgold is a little, yellow, cone-headed fellow, who came to Earth from the sun and has an interesting magnetism for making friends with some of Earth's odder creatures. His best friend is Forrest Applecrumbie, the smartly dressed pterodactyl, with whom he built a small cottage-style home on the edge of an uncharted wooded area in Minnesota. Gustafer has a pet eel named Slim (short for Slimothy) and a dragon named Asparagus who lives in his fireplace. For recreation, he enjoys punching cheese and jumping on cake.
Brainchild of illustrator/songwriter/performer Morgan Taylor (named Best Kids Performer in
New York Magazines 2008 Best of New York issue), Gustafer Yellowgold concerts are a one-of-a-kind blend of live music and moving image, projected in vivid color onto a large screen. Minimally animated illustrations are accompanied by Taylors catchy and original story-songs, for a truly different multimedia experience that entrances children and adults alike. The show will feature such Gustafer classics as Im from the Sun, Your Eel, and Pterodactyl Tuxedo, as well as new songs from Gustafer Yellowgolds Mellow Fever.
Since his creation in 2005, Gustafer Yellowgold has become an international phenomenon, praised by Newsweek as full of great pop tunes and hand-drawn animation about a lil fella from the sun. The Los Angeles Times enthused, "Taylors whimsical, lightly psychedelic world forms an interesting bridge between adult and kids music. Time Out NY Kids described the show as Equal parts concert, animated movie and alternative comedy act Taylor provides wry narration and is great at interacting with fans of any age. (He really should consider a third career in standup.) Possessing an unusual crossover appeal, GUSTAFER YELLOWGOLDS SHOW has performed as the support act for Wilco and The Polyphonic Spree, as well as headlining kids venues all across the U.S., in London, and even in Seoul, Korea!
