Let's Make Music NOLA! Conducted by Maxim Samarov. Performances by the Symphony Chorus, Opera Creole, local professional musicians, Make Music NOLA students, and members of the Tulane Orchestra.
Tulane University, Opera Creole, and the Symphony Chorus will host a fund raising concert for Make Music NOLA (previously known as the Youth Orchestra of the Lower 9th Ward), Wednesday, February 5th, 7:30pm, McAllister Hall at Tulane University. Works by William Grant Still, Leslie Adams, Beethoven, Donizetti,and more! Performances by the young musicians of Make Music NOLA on the first half. 100% of funds raised from ticket sales will be donated back to the organization. There will be a reception immediately following the concert for patrons who purchase $50 reserved seating tickets. This performance was made possible by the hard work and support of Maxim Samarov, Givonna Joseph, and Steven Edwards.
Make Music NOLA(MMN)is a music-for-social change program located in the 9th Ward and Central City. MMN is an after school program, which runs Monday-Thursday from 3:30 -6:00 PM throughout the school year. The program consists of excellent music instruction, implemented by a diverse staff of professional musicians and college students; opportunities to participate in workshops with guest artists and local musicians; and community relevant performances. Additionally, the children receive a healthy snack, help with homework, an evening meal, and transportation to those who need it. Currently over 50 children from local elementary schools are enrolled in the program. We are located at Arise Academy, KIPP Leadership Primary, and Edgar P. Harney Elementary
