Debajo del Agua: Peña Pachamericana
4th Annual Celebration of Solidarity Through Music:
In honor of the union between music and social justice, the Denver based Latin ensemble, Debajo del Agua, is organizing the 4th Annual Celebration of Solidarity Through Music: Peña Pachamericana. This Peña Pachamericana is a gathering of artists and musicians from across the Americas that have united to express a message of social justice. Debajo del Agua is a seven-piece instrumental band that fuses conscious hip-hop with Andean music, Samba, Son, Salsa, Cumbia, Reggae, and Reggaeton - creating a flavorful blend of melodies, spiced up with a style of its own. Their musical skills and spitfire lyrics (in Spanish, English, and Portuguese) is topped off with a message of peace, justice and equal rights. In spirit of solidarity, this show is dedicated to people that struggle in communities across the globe and work to create a more just world. This year's show will include traditional Latin American Music from Lo Cornejo (Chile and New York), as well as featured performances by The Soul Pros, Basheba Earth, Lady Speech, Panama Soweto, Molina Speaks, MC AD, DJ Cavem, and 2MX2. This event will take place Saturday, December 28th, 2013 at the Mercury Cafe (2199 California Street, Denver, CO 80205). Doors open at 8pm and music starts at 9pm. Tickets: $15 pre-sale or $20 at the door.
