Sista Monica Acoustic Honey
Back by popular demand Sista Monica, Deanna Bogart, Phil Gates and Don Caruth will be performing Saturday, November 30, 2013 the weekend after Thanksgiving at First Congregational Church 900 High Street, Santa Cruz, CA. 8:00 PM with doors opening at 7:00PM This concert has partial proceeds going benefit for JANUS Perinatal of Santa Cruz, Parajo Valley Family Shelter Services and Encompass Community Services. It is all ages, and all community services event.
Sista Monica and band have been performing worldwide in this year and they return to Santa Cruz, to perform this very special benefit concert to the place that got them started in 1992 - Santa Cruz.
She released her last CD "Living in the Danger Zone" and immediately became a 2013 "Best Soul Blues Female Artist of the Year" nominee by the National Blues Foundation - Blues Music Award. She is recognized for her songwriting, musical recordings, powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence and performances. Sista Monica carries the baton for the legendary singers Etta James, Koko Taylor, Ruth Brown and Katie Webster. Parker says 'these women are the mothers of my blues" as expressed in her 10th CD "Soul, Blues, and Ballads". In this concert she croons, moans, belts, and sings so audiences will experience the intensity of her lyrics the pulse of her melodies and her unique vocal expression.
Joining Sista Monica in the special concert is a six piece band of recording musicians featuring PHIL GATES blues guitar man from Los Angeles, CA, RUTH DAVIES will be on acoustic standup bass, LEON JOYCES JR.. on drums Chris Akin on Electric bass, Donny Sandoval on tenor sax and DANNY BECONCINI on the grand piano.
