WOW! Four amazing hard rockin' bands join forces to welcome Stupidity and their triumphant return from Sweden to celebrate their new release!
Andrea Gillis first crashed onto the local music scene with the band Red Chord. Their live shows are legendary, and still have people talking. She then wowed fans and critics alike with the release of her solo cd "Want Another" produced by Ed Valauskas . A virtual who's who of Boston rock is on that record.The Boston Globe says "She has been blessed with the pipes of Etta James and with the boozy swagger of Jim Morrison". Gillis blends r&b, rock, pop and gospel. Backed by one of Boston's most talented and diverse bands-Michelle Paulhus ( The Dents,The Marvels),Charles Hansen(Rhoss Phasor,Rock Bottom, Gymnasium), Melissa Gibbs (Heavy Stud and Coffin Lids), and Bruce Caporal (Devil on Horseback).
Andrea and her band continue to play to regularly packed house and win over new fans at their monthly/ weekly live shows. AGB opened for such acts as J. Geils Band, Sharon Jones and The DapKings, John Doe, Detroit Cobras, The Gossip, and was recently a headlining act at Tweed River Festival in Vermont (and this year as well).
Gillis recently sang the National Anthem at Fenway Park (2010).
The Downbeat 5 is a rock 'n' roll quartet founded in 2001 by JJ Rassler (DMZ, The Queers, The Odds) and Jennifer D'Angora (Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents, The Dents). The band is often heard on Little Steven's Underground Garage and is featured on his "Coolest Songs in the World" compilation series. The DB5 have shared the stage with such acts as; Holly Golightly, Magic Christian, The Hoodoo Gurus, The Pretty Things, The Knitters, The Blasters, The Zombies, Flaming Stars, Preachers Kids, Muffs, Dick Dale, Detroit Cobras, Sylvain Sylvain, Jayne County and countless like minded bands.
