Make Mental Health Matter w/ Bodhi Jones and Special Guests at Fan Club!

Vancouver, BC - Vancouver Musician Bodhi Jones and the 'Make Mental Health Matter' campaign are throwing a charity fundraiser concert on Wednesday, September 25th at Fanclub (1050 Granville St.). All proceeds from the show will go to the VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation's new mental health centre.
Mental Health is a subject that is close to Bodhi Jones' heart. Jones' has dealt with his own anxiety issues in the past and he recently lost a friend who was suffering from schizophrenia.

"I'm joining forces with 'Make Mental Health Matter' to honour my friend who recently took his own life after a 7 year battle with Schizophrenia," said Jones. "I feel the current health care system failed him. Over the years I'd made many visits to the current psych ward at VGH and it's just not an environment conducive to healing and health, to me it seems like a place that would make any one feel mentally unwell. My goal is to raise $25,000 toward a brand new state of the art 'Family Mental Health Centre'".
This new eight-floor, 119,500 square foot mental health centre will be built to improve patient care by consolidating the majority of acute psychiatric services at VGH into one location ensuring more streamlined and timely access to essential inpatient and outpatient care. It will also enhance collaboration amongst the psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers and other dedicated mental health care professionals resulting in better patient care. Thanks to funding from the provincial government of $57 million, a lead gift of $12 million from philanthropists Joseph and Rosalie Segal, and significant gifts from other donors, the campaign is close to making this project a reality with only $10 million left to raise.

Joining Bodhi Jones on the stage at Fanclub for the charity fundraiser on September 25th will be local conscience hip hop artists TTRA1N and S.O.S as well as Vancouver's Finest Soul Soaked Cover Band The Real Deal feat. Tonye Aganaba and The Chaperones.
