Russ Silvestri competed in the America's Cup twicein 1987 aboard Tom Blackaller's USA Challenge and in 2000 in New Zealand aboard AmericaOne. He has sailed competitively for 20 years in the Finn Class and has twice represented the United States in the Olympic Games. He won the silver medal in the 1999 Pan Am Games and was named Outstanding Male Athlete by the U.S. Olympic Committee in 2000.
Julian Guthrie's national bestseller, "The Billionaire and the Mechanic," chronicles how Larry Ellison and a car mechanic teamed up to win sailing's greatest race, the America's Cup.
