The Last Five Years

Jason Robert Brown's "Last Five Years" is an incredibly emotional and vivid theatrical piece, with beautiful music and telling lyrics. The story focuses on Cathy (played by Kelly Cullity) and Jamie's (played by Ian Cullity) five year relationship, and is told backwards from Cathy's perspective, and forwards from Jamie's (simultaneously). This inventive way of telling the story of their relationship places the happiest moment for Cathy and Jamie in the middle of the show ("The Next Ten Minutes").

Cathy is a struggling singing-actress, and Jamie is an increasingly successful author who is distracted by the perks and expectations of his successes.

"The Last Five Years" shows the powerful love exchanged and the difficulties of a relationship of two extremely driven individuals, and is filled with beautiful moments, and some very bittersweet ones too.

The performance lasts approximately 80 minutes and is performed without an intermission in West Sacramento's beautiful and intimate Black Box Theatre with live accompaniment.
