The Seasoned Gourmet has planned a food and wine-centric event to raise funds to support The Ability Garden, a 501(3)c Charitable Organization housed at the New Hanover County Arboretum, 6206 Oleander Drive. Dubbed 'Grapes & Grub' for its casual concept, this five-course wine pairing event will be held at the Arboretum on Thursday, June 27th, 2013 at 6:30pm and is planned to last until about sunset.
Catch the Food Truck, with Chef Keith Rhodes (Catch Restaurant, 6623 Market Street) at the helm, will be preparing 4 courses of casual gourmet fare, each to be served with a deliciously affordable wine from Empire Distributors. Roberta Campani of La Gemma Fine Italian Pastries (2323 S. 17th Street) will prepare a sweet ending to the evening.
Diners are encouraged to bring a lawn chair in which to sit and enjoy the food and wine pairings, and to be serenaded by B & B a duet offspring of the local party band 'shine.
DAY OF EVENT NOTE: Tickets are $50 and are available on the day of the event at the door with cash or check or on this website until 5:30pm.
About The Ability Garden:
The Ability Garden is a non-profit horticultural therapy program operating on the grounds of the New Hanover County Arboretum that serves individuals and groups from New Hanover, Pender, Brunswick and Onslow counties. Founded in 1999 by Friends of the Arboretum, it serves all ages and abilities. The program promotes the positive, life affirming aspects of a personal engagement with Nature. Individuals with a wide variety of challenges and diagnoses are given the opportunity to participate in professionally directed nature-based activities, with the goal of improving their quality of life. Through success-oriented gardening projects, individuals who participate in the program experience increased self-confidence and self-esteem, foster a greater awareness for the environment, learn horticultural skills, and take pride in volunteering in a community garden.
