Kevin Burke and John Carty
Hailed in theNew York Times as 'a superior instrumentalist in any idiom... impressively virtuosic... one of the greatest living Celtic fiddlers' and in the Irish Times, 'Burke's fiddling is one of the high spots of the current Irish music scene,' for over 30 years Burke has been enthralling audiences around the world with his concerts and recordings while influencing an entire generation of fiddlers with his unique, sly spin on the silken-smooth Co. Sligo style of Irish fiddling. A member of such illustrious ensembles as The Bothy Band, Patrick Street, Open House and the Celtic Fiddle Festival, with further renown stemming from pairings with Micheal O Domhnaill and Cal Scott, the special concert will be part of the debut duo tour by the National Heritage Fellowship recipient with the remarkable multi-instrumentalist John Carty. John, a winner of the Irish language television station TG4's prestigious 'Traditional Musician of the Year'Award in 2003, is a master on the fiddle, with a trio of acclaimed CDs released on Shanachie and banjo, with a pair of highly praised albums featuring that instrument, as well as being highly skilled on flute and guitar.
