Men Who Cook
Primeplus Norfolk Senior Center's 4th annual Men Who Cook fundraising event will dish up fun, food and fellowship on Saturday, April 13, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Norfolk Plaza Hotel, 700 Monticello Ave.
"Men Who Cook offers a unique dining and dancing experience, unlike any other fundraising event in Hampton Roads. Twenty-five local amateur chef teams pair up to show off their culinary skills and prepare their specialty dishes. Several city council members and teams from Norfolk and Chesapeake Sheriff's departmetns and local business leaders will be on hand to cook up their favorite recipes.
After the chefs rush to make last minute preparations, guests sample a variety of specialties from scallops wrapped in bacon to Brunswick stew. A panel of female judges, led by honorary chair, Cathy Lewis, will tally votes and determine the winners of categories, including Tantalizing Taste Bud, Dynamic Chef Duo, Most Likely to Make in My Own Kitchen, and People's Choice awards. As guests taste the savory samples, the Jim Newsom Quartet will provide entertainment.
Tickets for Men Who Cook are $50 per person ($55 at the door), or $180 for four. Admission includes sampling of chef's dishes, two tickets for adult beverages and door prize registration.
