Born in Yerevan, Armenia and a local of Los Angeles since he was six years of age, Vahagni's musical development began with his father, a world-renowned classical guitarist, Srakis Turgutyan. Vahagni continued his studies in Andalucia, Spain for several years before returning to the States to embark on his professional career.
