Sam Moss & The Half Moons / Squirrel Flower
Sam Moss is a Boston based songwriter and string player. His work rambles through various offshoots of Americana, from original and interpreted folk songs, to pastoral and occasionally jagged instrumental guitar. In addition to eight solo albums, Moss has released two albums with the old-time group, The Howling Kettles, and compiled Imaginational Anthem Volume Five for Tompkins Square Records.
In 2012 he was in residence at The MacDowell Colony. His work has been featured in No Depression, Pitchfork, The FADER, Paste, and WFMU, among others.
Squirrel Flower is Boston, MA and Grinnell, IA based, Ella Williams' solo project. Her sparse arrangements and heavy coats of reverb offer a depth to her soundscape reaching far back as the rolling hill horizons of the Iowa prairie. The harmonies flowering her arrangements are close and yank on tensions that fill out the body by command of the guttural guitar distortions that shake through her latest album, Contact Sports.
