University of South Alabama Music Business Students present "Straight from the Soundtrack"
The University of South Alabama Music Business Student Association will present "Straight from the Soundtrack" on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 7:30 pm in the USA Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The evening will feature instrumental and vocal performers from the USA Department of Music and the greater Mobile musical community along with a multi-media extravaganza which will combine visuals with music from Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Legend of Zelda, Beauty and the Beast, Charlie Brown... and more!
One of the purposes of this production is to raise awareness of the Music Business program at the University of South Alabama. If you stop and think about it, music plays a HUGE part in our everyday lives (radio, TV, cell phone, iPod, even your computer when it starts up). Music enhances our lives; it serves both functional and entertainment purposes. We tend to take this for granted but there is so much that has to take place before a piece of music is deemed worthy for public consumption. It has to be performed, recorded, mixed, edited, mastered, packaged and publicized before it ever gets "out the door". More and more details emerge if you look into the process even closer. The Music Business program at USA trains students to perform these jobs. Can you imagine a world without music? We can't!
The Music Business program at USA is in serious need of a technological update. Most of our equipment is almost a decade old which is prehistoric in tech terms. To be competitive upon graduation, our students need experience with state of the art equipment and software. This production will kick off our efforts to raise $20,000 to upgrade our labs and production equipment. We are seeking individual and corporate sponsors to help us!!!
