"PARADISE" - a screening sponsored by the LA Jewish Film Festival
A special screening sponsored by LA Jewish Film Festival and the Jewish Journal of auteur Andrei Konchalovsky's renowned masterpiece "PARADISE".
Q&A with renowned Holocaust scholar/historian MICHAEL BERENBAUM
Filmmaker Andrei Konchalovsky (best known for "Runaway Train", The Lion in Winter", "Shy People" and "Tango and Cash") returns with "Paradise", his wrenching exploration of life under Nazi rule.
Shot in black and white by famed cinematographer Alexander Simonov, PARADISE tells the compelling story of three individuals whose paths cross amidst the devastation of war. Olga (Julia Vysotskaya) is a beautiful Russian aristocratic émigré and member of the French Resistance; Jules (Philippe Duquesne) is a French-Nazi collaborator who is assigned to investigate her case; and Helmut (Christian Clauss) is a high-ranking, yet naïve German SS officer who once fell madly in love with Olga and meets her again when she is shipped to a concentration camp. While they recount their stories, the film flashes back to the end of World War II and the days when their destinies crossed.
