Our first concert of the 2017 season is titled Come Away, featuring music with texts by William Shakespeare and others of the great poets. The feature piece on the program is a world premiere and brand new commission by Bramwell Tovey, Music Director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Toveys work is titled Queen Mab after the famous tribute in Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet. This 18 long piece will feature groups placed around the performance space, providing the audience a truly unique experience of sonic emersion.
The program will also feature Pteris Vasks' captivating and other-worldly work Plainscapes, a 17 long work for wordless choir, violin, and cello. Come Away will also feature a set of three contemporary and wild madrigals by Kirke Mechem titled Winging Wildly.
