Learn how to build your own home, cottage or cabin with dry wood and mortar. Its economical, energy efficient, Earth-friendly, comfortable, and beautiful in every aspect!
The bulk of the workshop consists of hands-on sessions that include instructor demonstrations and individually supervised hands-on practice on a cordwood sauna at Indian Pipe Botanical Sanctuary in Linden, VA.
Each morning will be begin with a short detailed lectured on natural building, with a focus on cordwood. These discussions will include detailed cordwood information, kinds of wood that are used & how to build the proper frame for your building.
Wayne Weiseman, of the Permaculture Project LLC, has been working with cordwood since the 1980s. Come gain hands-on experience with one of the experts!
Daily breakfast & lunch included with registration. Dinner is up to you - we have an outdoor kitchen and grills available. Downtown Front Royal and Marshall, VA offer restaurants & grocery stores.
Free camping available on the sanctuary. The Ashby Inn offers nice rooms about 15 minutes away, there are other hotels and motels within a 30 minute radius as well.
