Richard Russell's Shantikar Kirtan
Richard Russell & Friends present Shantikar: World Music Kirtan. Russell, a renowned disciple of world-famous Indian master musician Ali Akbar Khan, leads the vocal chants and plays the harmonium and the 25 string sarod. He is joined by an ensemble of superb musicians including Grammy award-winning woodwind artist Nancy Rumbel and Seattle's top tabla drummer for kirtan and fusion, Anil Prasad. The quintet is completed by bass virtuoso Jason Everett and the sweet, inspired voice of Celia Chantal singing response vocals. Hosted by Discover Yoga, which offers a relaxed and comfortable space allowing a combination of floor and chair seating, this promises to be an uplifting evening of devotional music and community connection.
