Dennis A. Vásquez, Superintendent, Petroglyph National Monument
Janus, an ancient Roman god, was depicted as having two faces looking to the past and to the future. Join Park Superintendent Dennis Vasquez as he takes a look at the geological and historic past and the problems of the future of the national monument on Albuquerques western margin. Borrowing from Greek mythology, Park Superintendent Dennis Vasquez will take a brief look at the geologic and ancient past of Petroglyph National Monument, as well as discuss current issues and look to future management of the national park on Albuquerque's West Mesa.
Dennis Vásquez serves as Superintendent of Petroglyph National Monument in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has worked for the National Park Service for over 35 years and previously served as Superintendent of Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site, Bandelier National Monument, and White Sands National Monument. He has also served as a Trustee of the Valles Caldera National Preserve, Program Manager for the National Museum of the American Latino Commission, and as a government consultant working with protected area managers in Latin America.
The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science reserves the right to cancel any event that does not reach a minimum of 6 participants.
Online ticket sales stop at noon the day of the lecture. If seats are available, they will be sold at the NMMNH&S's admissions desk on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 5:30pm.
