The setting is a post slavery, yet controlled and segregated Guayama, Puerto Rico in 1884. The three major classes are the white elite, the Artisans (middle-class blue-collar) and the Libertos (ex-slaves freed men and women). Don Hipolito Montes, a Haitian born mulatto businessman opens "Café Restauran y Hotel Español." He creates festivities for all three major social groups from Guayama and Arroyo. First day was the inauguration for the white elite called "Baile de Confianza." Second would be formal dance for the Artisans (Baile name not specified although they later had a "Baile de Obreros"). The celebration would conclude with a formal dance called "Baile de Etiqueta" for the Libertos. Come to our "Gran Baile de Etiqueta" where we pay homage to the Libertos and the music they played on Saturday December 15th.-Bomba Con Buya
