Time Hop 2017
TIME HOP - a jampacked double-header showcasing the past, present and future of roller derby, right here in roller derby's birthplace, Chicago.
The first game brings it old school. The Midwest Allstars' home teams, Midwest Monsters (skating as the Midwest Pioneers) and Heartland Heroes (skating as the Chicago Westerners), will face-off as they play according to the classic 1970's ruleset: continual skating and alternating teams of men and women. These two home teams feature some of the top skaters from the Midwest.
The second game will showcase our young, emerging talent of the Midwest. The Northern Illinois Junior Roller Derby (NIJRD) INVITATIONAL will feature the youngest junior rising stars from the Midwest JRDA member leagues in a regulation level 3 junior bout.
Other highlights include: - Halftime participation from award-winning artistic, speed and Chicago style JB dance skaters - Space for Midwest leagues to feature information about their league and history (including video clips and photos) - Recognition of those who have contributed to the advancement of roller derby
TIME HOP 2017 is sponsored by Brown Paper Tickets and the American Red Cross (in coordination with an October "First Blood" blood drive). With the counsel and recognition of Jerry Seltzer, son of Roller Derby's founder Leo Seltzer, and long time derby promoter... Look for coverage of the event on local media outlets across the Midwest.
We hope you can join us for this very special event - a glance back at our roots, a celebration of our progress, and a look to what's next.
