The Church Of Boogie Woogie Rocks For Radio
Were excited to announce the 2nd annual House Concert at the Church of Boogie-Woogie, benefitting public radio station KZYX. The concert is at 3:00pm on Sunday June 25th! S.E. Willis, Wendy DeWitt, and Kirk Harwood are teaming up to make an afternoon of rocking blues and boogie for an intimate audience around the Steinway grand piano in Kirk and Wendys Ukiah home. When every seat in the house is up-close and personal, you walk out of the performance feeling like you are personal friends.
Food and libations for the event are generously provided by Ukiah Brewing Company, Anderson Valley Brewing Company, Signal Ridge Vineyards, and Scharffenberger Cellars.
Tickets are $75 and are available at Dig! Music in Ukiah and at www.brownpapertickets.com. A very limited number of tickets are available. Carpooling is recommended, as parking is also limited. Only 35 tickets will be sold for this event.
S.E.Willis plays piano, accordion, and harmonica, in addition to being a vocalist. Willis music is deeply rooted in traditional American forms: blues, boogie-woogie, country, rockabilly, gospel, zydeco. A veteran band leader, S.E. (Steve) Willis has taken a supporting role in bands with such artists as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly, Albert King, Jimmy Rogers, Roy Gaines, and, since 2000, Elvin Bishop.
Wendy DeWitt, former pianist with Hank Ballard and with Steve Freund, known for her powerhouse left hand, reigns over the local and international blues scene as The Queen of Boogie-Woogie. Shes joined with jazz-trained force of nature and veteran Norton Buffalo drummer and vocalist Kirk Harwood, creating a duo capable of holding its own on any stage.
