The Flesh Hungry Dog Show's "Christmas With The Joans"

Following an 8 month hiatus from a 7+ year monthly run, The Flesh Hungry Dog Show returns for its fourth annual "Christmas With The Joans" event. This holiday extravaganza features Chicago's favorite party band The Joans,
vintage twist-meisters Pieptone!, and connesieurs of the forgotton B-side
Bric-A-Brac.  Chicago rock impresario Gary Airedale hosts, DJ Moose spins before
and between the bands.  Go Go dancing troupe, The REVELETTES appear as special
guests

The Flesh Hungry Dog Show starts at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7th, 2012 at
Jackhammer (773-743-5772), 6406 N. Clark St. in Chicago.  Jackhammer is a 21+
venue.  Tickets are $10 and are available at the door, or online at
[1]www.fleshhungrydog.com.

The mission of The Flesh Hungry Dog Show is to bring live rock and related
musical forms to Chicago's gay community, and to provide a fun, alternative
venue for bands with GLBT content and members, and bands that are GLBT
supportive.

The Joans
Formed in 2007, in Chicago The Joans are bunch of bickering weirdos who are
united by their love for rock and roll, drama and glamour, not necessarily in
that order. They have played from San Francisco to Milwaukee opening for Cyndi
Lauper, Joan Rivers and some guy that played the electric violin. The Joans
videos, 'Mad at the Dirt' and 'Joan Crawford Goes to Hell', directed by Peter
Neville have been featured on the LOGO network and in film festivals around the
world. You can hear their new holiday song, 'A Very Crawford Christmas' in the
soon to be a gay classic film Scrooge and Marley. You can get their music on
iTunes, Amazon or CD Baby.
The Joans combine a sleek, new wave sensibility, a 60's garage rock sound and a
style that combines street smart grit and old fashioned glamour to create their
own Tough Dame rock genre. The Joans consist of Davy, Taylor, Jennifer, Aaron,
Steve and Ed who not only share the same last name (Joans), but their love of
entertaining their devoted fans, much like their muse, Joan Crawford.

Pieptone!
Pieptone! was conceived by former Goethe Institut Chicago students who thought a
party band that sings "auf Deutsch" might be a good way to learn a little German
vocabulary and grammar without the textbook. The Pieptone! set list is from a
linguistic golden age of pop music  the 1950s and 60s, when bands and singers
from Europe and the US looked beyond their own borders and cut the same record
in two, three, or four languages to increase their appeal internationally.
North America's only Schlager band (Schlager = "hits") takes its cues from
midcentury European pop idols like Rex Gildo, Gitte, and Caterina Valente  and
American singers like Connie Francis and Chubby Checker  who weren't afraid to
tackle a new language to climb the foreign charts. You don't need to speak
German to feel the Pieptone! beat: Die Sprache der Popmusik ist universell! (The
language of pop music is international.)

Bric-A-Brac
The definition of Bric-a-Brac is "miscellaneous curios" and true to their name,
Bric-a-Brac covers the world of little known songs found on thrift store records
and B-sides of singles giving them a fresh sound for today's audience. Rock, pop
and lounge are blended into a velvety sonic soundscape to create what 60s poet
icon Rod McKuen called 'an amazingly large sound'. Starting their second decade
of performing, Bric-a-Brac has performed on NPR's This American Life,
Chic-a-Go-go, Milly's Orchid Show, and was the prom band at The Old Towne School
of Folk Music's 50th anniversary "Homecoming Dance".
