Ingeniously capturing the mysteries and adventures of childhood, James M. Barrie's timeless play became one of the most popular films of the twenties. Virtually unseen for decades, Paramount Studios' 1924 production of Peter Pan has been fully restored from original nitrate materials, with authentic color tints. Betty Bronson stars as Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up, who charms Wendy and her brother to fly with him to Never Never Land. On this distant island of dreams and magic, they struggle to rescue the Lost Boys from Captian Hook (Ernest Torrence) and his band of pirates, encountering along the way the delightful fairy Tinkerbell (Virginia Browne Faire), a man-eating crocodile, and a band of valiant Indians (led by Anna May Wong). This memorable adaptation  which in turn inspired later film versions of the story  features a delightful cast, remarkable special effects by Roy Pomeroy, and fine photography by James Wong Howe (The Thin Man). This screening of the silent classic Peter Pan will be brought to life by harpist Leslie McMichael's live accompaniment on concert, Celtic and electric harps. www.PluckMusic.com (USA, 1924, 102 mins., Blu-ray)

Leslie McMichael feels lucky to be doing what she loves for a living. A graduate of Wellesley College, her musical pursuits include performance, teaching, recording, and composition. Leslie's versatility takes her from touring with silent film performances to playing for local weddings. Leslie has pursued Suzuki Method training with Mary Kay Waddington at the American Suzuki Institute in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and now directs a thriving Suzuki harp program in the greater Seattle area. Recently asked to join the Suzuki Academy faculty at Music Center of the Northwest, Leslie has also taught harp at the Evergreen Suzuki Institute, the Edmonds Summer Music School, and the Suzuki Institute of Seattle. Leslie is on the 4Culture Touring Arts Roster, has served as president of the Suzuki Association of Washington State and of the Seattle Chapter of the American Harp Society, directs the annual Vashon Island Harp Camp, and has adjudicated at the Washington State Solo and Ensemble Contest and the Pacific Northwest Scottish Games harp competition. She lives on Vashon Island in a purple house with her wonderful husband, four cats and a turtle.
