"Sounds of Spring" Concert with St. Paul de Vence and Lydia Ramsey
Tickets on sale online until 1 hour before event begins and tickets can be purchased at the door.

This year St Margaret's Episcopal Church is producing a Sounds of Spring concert with Seattle-based band St Paul de Vence on March 10. The event will be a  night of music, hors d'oeuvres, and drinks with a live and silent auction. St. Paul de Vence comes to Baton Rouge for the first time during their Down to the Delta tour; bringing with them their songs full of story and harmony. The opening performer will be Lydia Ramsey singing music from her new album "Bandita."  www.lydiaramseymusic.com

The evening will begin at 7 with food, drinks, and a live/silent auction to benefit the ministries of St, Margaret's. The concert begins at 8:30.

Formed in June of 2011, a wave of good omens and overwhelming responses continues to follow the bands steady and sincere work.  Only four months after their formation they gathered in the studio to record their debut, self-titled album, with a live approach and minimal overdubs.  The album proved a success with seven straight weeks in the Top 10 of KEXPs Americana and Pacific Northwest Charts following its release, and the record was selected as one of KEXPs Top Albums of 2012.  Don Yates of KEXP says of St. Paul de Vence, The bands dynamic, acoustic-oriented sound includes guitars, accordion, ukulele, autoharp, banjo, mandolin, assorted percussion and more, fleshing out well-crafted songs with warm, soulful harmonies and occasional anthemic choruses.

Farther Than Light,  released in 2014, is St. Paul de Vence's second album.  Driven by a love of strong harmonies, varied instrumentation, and a narrative at once adventurous and relatable, the band continues to explore sonic landscape possibilities, bringing a great dynamic with them from the record to the stage.
Having built their sound - and indeed their entire experience - organically, they continue to find themselves in inspiring performance opportunities ranging from festivals to living rooms.  At the heart of the process is the never ending re-discovery of the human condition.

The creation of the band was originally inspired by the life story of lead singer, Benjamin Doerr's grandfather who grew up in the south of France, came of age under the Nazi Occupation and went on to fight with the Free French, liberating France at the end of WWII.
