An evening of Old and New Music from the Pacific Rim that spans traditional Korean repertoire, and a wealth of new works by Pacific Rim composers. Four world premieres by Pacific Rim composers, performed on instruments of both Western and Asian cultures. Works by John Cage, Phil Collins, Hyo-shin Na, Paul Nauert, as well as traditional Korean repertoire. For this program, the ever-inventive Wooden Fish Ensemble focus on the piri (Korean oboe) and its versatility of expression in divergent contexts. Guest piri virtuoso, Yun-Kyong displays the instrument's unique expressiveness in divergent contexts.
