Medieval Festival of Courage
The Medieval Festival of Courage has become a special community event to help local schools and non-profits raise money for education programs while having fun in medieval style. Our village is in 13th century France. From the bounty of nature we gather the fruits of the harvest and store up the light to guide us through the darkness of winter. The celebration of the autumn festival is a tradition of courage and strength. This is done through the games and stories we play.
Come and enjoy jousting knights, dancing dragons, medieval morsels and spirits, a traders market, games and fyne entertainment at our harvest festival. Local to far away land artisans don our village with beautiful wares. Fine food and drink are available from local vendors to tempt your palate. We will offer local beer, mead, ale and wine. Our goal is to provide visitors with a fun and educational experience that entices you to spend your gold! We love for visitors to have hands on experience and interaction with the villagers. It is a family event with ages ranging from 0 to 95. You are welcome to come in costume and enjoy your day.
There is a special Enchanted Village Tour on Saturday morning for the children where they will meet the characters of the village and receive special gifts- first 200. Saturday is the training day. Parzival's Quest on Sunday is a squire's challenge of courage and knowledge. Treasures are revealed when questions are asked - first 200 Children. Sunday will be Tournament Sunday. We feature the Knights of Mayhem, who perform in full contact jousting tournament style on both days. There will be two shows per day - 12:00 and 3:30. Many more special activities and entertainment will be planned throughout the festival.
This year we are returning to sunny Blue Lake at Christie's Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze off Hwy. 299 on Glendale Drive. This event is in beautiful Humboldt County. A hotel is located at the Blue Lake Casino if you would like to book accommodations. Arcata has a number of Hotels located on Valley West Boulevard off Giuntoli Lane on Hwy 299 (see Ticket Information page on our website). Camping on-site is for vendors and participants only. Many local campgrounds are near by as Humboldt County offers beautiful redwood forests which are a back drop to this event.
Parking is limited so be sure to come early. Once the lot is full, overflow parking will be at the Blue lake Casino with a shuttle service to the festival. Handicap Parking is available. Please keep in mind this is a farm so the ground is uneven. NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED ON-SITE as this is a working farm and ranch.
This event is a school fundraiser for Coastal Grove Charter School in Arcata, CA which is part of the Arcata School District with 220 Students.
