JOSE MERCE West Coast Premier at 7th Annual Bay Area Flamenco Festival
Bay Area Flamenco presents 7th Annual Bay Area Flamenco Festival: Festival Flamenco Gitano USA
Featuring direct from Spain! JOSE MERCE Guitar: Diego del Morao
JOSE MERCE one of Spain's top stars will appear for the first time in the Bay Area at this year's Festival. With multiple Latin Grammy nominations and more than 600,000 albums sold in the last 15 years, he has made an indelible mark on flamenco. His 1998 recording "Del Amanecer" (Virgen) garnered worldwide recognition and he has gone on to skyrocket in popularity. He is known both as a master of the cante jondo and for songs with contemporary arrangements aimed at a broader audience, including renditions of Latin American and Spanish topical songs such as "Te recuerdo, Amanda" by Chilean singer/songwriter Victor Jara; "Clandestinos" by Manu Chao and "Al Alba" by Luis Eduardo Aute. The latest addition to his extensive discography, produced by Javier Limon, will be released on Blue Note EMI in the fall of 2012.
